汎用人工知能(AGI: Artificial General Intelligence)は人間のように十分に広範な適用範囲と強力な汎化能力を持つ人工知能の開発を目指す研究領域です．2010年以前には、その実現は極めて困難と見られていましたが，その後の深層学習技術の進展などを契機として開発が活性化しました．未だ投資価値の高い研究領域ではありますが，イノベーションが期待されており，2020年代にはいりその研究活動は一段と加速しています．当汎用人工知能研究会は、本分野の研究振興を支える母体として，2015年に創設され、継続的に活動しています．

2021年2月25日に第17回目の研究会を企画しました．是非，ご参加下さい．

"Risk analysis and artificial general intelligence"

Seth Baum (Global Catastrophic Risk Institute)

Abstract:

Risk analysis is the study of the possibility of harm. Risk is commonly quantified as the probability of harm multiplied by the severity of the harm if it occurs. Even when the probability and severity cannot be readily quantified, risk analysis can provide a wealth of insight into possible harms and the means of addressing them. This talk will discuss the role of risk analysis in the study and governance of artificial general intelligence (AGI). AGI may itself pose a very severe risk, though if built responsibly, it may also help address a multitude of other risks. Risk analysis of AGI can inform the technical design of AGI systems and the design of policy regimes to ensure that systems are built to high standards of safety and ethics.
